Is Fallout 4 still good? Is Skyrim even better?
Which is the best Bethesda RPG?
The kings of the RPG genre are the Japanese. Even so, in the West, great sagas and RPG games have made a lot of noise, even in the Japanese market. Bethesda developed two of these: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. If you haven’t played either of these classics, you may be wondering: Is Fallout 4 good even now? Is Skyrim better?
That’s why we have analyzed both games, and we bring you the answer you need.
Fallout 4 is one of the best post-apocalyptic games ever made
During the history of video games, we have had great franchises of the RPG genre. Fallout, among all, enters as one of the most recognized sagas in the industry. Since its beginnings, Bethesda has developed a saga of games that have consistently delivered great titles. But what about Fallout 4?
Fallout 4 marked the long-awaited return of the saga for many RPG fans. Bethesda announced it would be the biggest game, with the most customization and the best playable content. Bethesda delivered if you had any doubts… and boy, they delivered!
Actually, we would go so far as to say that Fallout 4 is a masterpiece. It presents us with the best open world there has been to date in the series. The depth of dialogue with some of the characters is outstanding. And if that wasn’t enough, Bethesda managed to deliver a game in which you won’t last more than five minutes without doing anything.
Undoubtedly, Fallout 4 is one of the best games in the genre. Even today it could still be considered one of the best post-apocalyptic games ever made. For us, it would be darn near perfect if it wasn’t for the bugs (you know, guys, the Creation Engine wreaking havoc as usual). But is it better than Skyrim?
Skyrim vs. Fallout 4
Although many consider The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt the king of western role-playing games, there are two clear contenders for the top spot: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout IV. To date, these two Bethesda games have been two of the best installments Bethesda has developed (without forgetting Oblivion, of course).
But both Bethesda and RPG fans have battled for almost a decade, wondering: Which is the best? After an excellent analysis, we have come to a clear conclusion: both are equally good. But if you are a hardcore RPG player, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the game to choose. Plus, Skyrim has a ton of mods, including a co-op mod.
However, Fallout 4 is a game that will allow you to explore beyond what a simple western RPG offers. The character/town/home customization, the number of great stories and situations that arise with the NPCs, a more tactical aspect, and more make Fallout 4 stand out.
So, is Fallout 4 good? Yes! Is it better than Skyrim? It depends on what you’re looking for. Still, if you want a lot of hours of gameplay and fun for a couple of months, we recommend you play both titles. After doing so, you will realize that each one is a great title depending on the approach you look at it.
