Japanese Sales: October 24 – October 30, 2005

Sales of the top 100 titles totaled 670,732 units, 106.26% of last week’s total and 89.08% of the weekly average. Twenty new releases took spots in the top 100, accounting for 44.47% of sales. Top-ranked Shadow of the Colossus followed by Battalion Wars, Ultraman Fighting Evolution Rebirth and Eureka Seven TR1: New Wave entered the top 10 and boosted the market.

Five PlayStation 2 games, four Nintendo DS games, and one GameCube game made the Top 10 this week. Returning from last week’s Top 10 are Pokemon Torouze (DS), Hisshou Pachinko Series (PS2), Dragon Ball Z Sparking! (PS2), DS Training For Adults: Work Your Brain, and Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop (DS).

Taking a look at hardware sales for the week, the Nintendo DS continues its consistent spot at #1 in the Japanese market. Combined market share of all Nintendo handhelds makes up 55.26% of the overall hardware market. Sony’s two systems make up 42.16% of the hardware market. GameCube sales are up this week on demand for Battalion Wars, while PS2 sales increased slightly and Xbox dropped.
