Legendary football coach and TV broadcaster John Madden graces the cover of Madden NFL 23.
More than thirty years after its debut, John Madden is once again on the cover of his eponymous football video game from Electronic Arts. It’s a fitting tribute to the football legend.
Madden NFL 23 features different covers: the All-Madden Edition features the same photo from the original 1988 game. The Standard Edition on next-gen consoles includes a photograph of Coach Madden after the Oakland Raiders won Super Bowl XI. Meanwhile, the Standard Edition on last-gen consoles is from his time as a broadcaster.
Sadly, Madden passed away last year. As Daniel wrote at the time, “the Hall of Fame player, coach, and professional commentator is gone, but he leaves behind an enduring legacy in the video game industry.”
