Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

Nintendo is celebrating Kirby’s 30th anniversary this year.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack just added Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards to its slowly-growing Nintendo 64 collection of games on the Switch console.

Originally released in 2000, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is a platformer from HAL Laboratory, the makers of the first two Super Smash Bros. games. The Crystal Shards is the first Kirby game with three-dimensional backgrounds, although it is a side-scroller. So it is actually a 2.5D platformer.

The game features both single-player and multiplayer modes. The multiplayer allows up to four players to compete in three mini-games: 100-Yard Hop, Bumper Crop Bump, and Checkerboard Chase. Play as Kirby, King Dedede, Adeleine, or Waddle Dee.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is available now for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. In addition to the benefits of Nintendo Switch Online, the Expansion Pack also gives you access to a selection of Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games. Nintendo Switch Online costs $20 per year while the inclusion of the Expansion Pack brings the total to $50.
