Kirby 64 players on Switch are reporting a bug that was not present in the Nintendo 64 version of the game.
A game-breaking bug is preventing players from advancing in the Switch version of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. The game was recently added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
The reported bug immobilizes players during an underwater scene in the game as @hinapuff showed in a tweet published on Twitter over a week ago:
what on earth is this issue? I've never had it in the hundreds of hours spent in the N64 original #Nintendo64 #NintendoSwitchOnline #NintendoSwitch pic.twitter.com/u1St8pOuvA

Nintendo confirmed the issue in a statement posted on Twitter:
A bug has been found in #Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards for Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Switch Online that can prevent players from progressing under a certain condition. A patch will be released early next week to fix this. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is a platformer from HAL Laboratory, the makers of the first two Super Smash Bros. games. Originally released in 2000, The Crystal Shards is the first Kirby game with three-dimensional backgrounds. It is available for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.
My Take
If you’re a Switch Online subscriber who has yet to download Kirby 64, you may want to hold off until Nintendo patches the game next week.
