Lightmatter is a new Portal-like first-person puzzle game

Lightmatter

Indie developer Tunnel Vision Games has released a first-person sci-fi horror puzzle game called Lightmatter.

If you’re a fan of puzzle games like Portal and The Talos Principle, Lightmatter looks like it might be right up your alley. Instead of an AI, there’s a maniac inventor who has created the ultimate power source capable of tearing the world apart one atom at a time.

The game takes place in a mysterious experimental facility where the shadows will kill you. Players must explore the facility in an attempt to discover the hidden plot while facing challenging puzzles that require mastering different light sources to survive. Solve mind-bending puzzles using lights, shadows, beams, platforms, and the newly-discovered energy source, Lightmatter.

Art used in thick-line animation and graphic novel-style outlines helped inspire the game. As for voice talent, the game features a legend. David Bateson – known from playing Agent 47 in the Hitman series – plays Virgil, the CEO of Lightmatter Technologies. He provides the game’s dark humor narrative.

Lightmatter is now available on PC via Steam for $19.99. Players can try the first hour of gameplay for free. If you choose to upgrade, your progress will carry over.
