2K Games and its Hangar 13 development studio today announced Mafia: Trilogy. Two of the three games are already available for players starting today.
The collection brings together three distinct eras of organized crime in America. Mafia takes place during Prohibition. Mafia II is set in a fictionalized New York City during the 1940s and 1950s. Meanwhile, Mafia III draws inspiration from New Orleans and is set during the turmoil of the late 1960s.
The games also span three different console generations. Mafia was originally released on PC and ported to PS2 and Xbox. Mafia II was released on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Meanwhile, Mafia III is a PC, PS4, and Xbox One game.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is the original classic rebuilt from the ground up. Mafia II: Definitive Edition is an ultra HD remaster. Meanwhile, Mafia III: Definitive Edition is being described as a “re-introduction” of that game.
If you purchase Mafia: Trilogy digitally prior to August 28, you will be able to access Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition immediately on PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Then, when the game is available on August 28, players can download Mafia: Definitive Edition. A physical edition will launch on August 28.
The Definitive Editions of Mafia II and Mafia III are also available as standalone purchases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. They will be coming to the Epic Games Store and Google Stadia at a later date. Both Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition feature all original bonus add-on content, plus completely remastered 4K compatible visuals for Mafia II.
