Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will have hoverboard racing

Did you know that hoverboard racing is an Olympic sport? Well, it is in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

Sega announced today three game modes that will “go beyond the limits of reality into the realm of imagination.” They’re called Dream Events, which the company bills as “intense, fast-paced experiences” with your favorite characters from the Mario and Sonic universes.

Dream Racing will have your character hop on a hoverboard and zoom through a downhill course filled with power-ups and obstacles. You’ll be able to perform tricks to get a speed boost, which you may need. The first to the bottom of the course wins.

The other two Dream Events are Dream Shooting and Dream Karate. Dream Shooting has you running around a traditional Japanese manor taking aim and shooting at targets. The Dream Karate event has you fighting an opponent and lighting up squares where they fall. Whoever has the most squares light up at the end of the round wins.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch on November 5. Right now when you pre-order the game, you’ll save $10.
