Square Enix has revealed that the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers update contains a huge new danger for players to face: Scientist Supreme Monica Rappaccini’s Cosmic Cube.
The Avengers discovered the threat of a sinister new weapons project being performed by AIM and Scientist Supreme Monica Rappaccini during the events of Marvel’s Avengers Operation: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect.
This immensely powerful object, which first appeared in Tales of Suspense #79 in July 1966, is capable of manipulating matter and energy on an unknown scale throughout the cosmos. And now it’s in the hands of Advanced Idea Mechanics’ insane genius mastermind.
Marvel’s Avengers provides a completely immersive experience by combining the single-player centered Reassemble narrative campaign with the ongoing Avengers Initiative’s War Zone missions, which transport the Avengers all across the planet and beyond. The Reassemble campaign missions are meant to highlight one or more hero’s particular skills, whereas the Avengers Initiative missions may be played solo with your own custom AI squad or with a group of up to four people as any Hero in the player’s roster.
This new Cosmic Cube material continues the plot from Marvel’s Avengers Operation: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect, which was released in February, and prepares for forthcoming releases, such as Marvel’s Avengers Expansion: Black Panther – War for Wakanda, which will be released in August.
Aside from the new Villain Sector, the limited-time Cosmic Threat Event begins on June 24 and goes through July 8. During the Cosmic Threat Event, participants must explore the world for Cosmic energy traces left by Monica’s superweapon, the Cosmic Cube. Players that accomplish Cosmic Damage tasks and participate in special Cosmic Threat Event objectives will get a distinctive animated nameplate, gear, and other prizes.
Marvel’s Avengers is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Stadia.
