Matt Gaetz attracts a whopping six viewers during inaugural Twitch stream

It turns out that what’s hot on Fox News is not a hot commodity on Twitch.

Florida Congressman, far-right provocateur, and target of an ongoing FBI investigation, Matt Gaetz – who the Washington Post reports sought a preemptive pardon from former president Donald Trump over sex trafficking allegations – just debuted on Twitch. He attracted all of six people during peak viewership, according to the British publication the Independent.

VICE News reports that after his inaugural livestream on Thursday — a 30 minute chat touching on the Capitol riot, right-wing conspiracy subject Ray Epps, and “wokeism” in schools with former Trump speechwriter Darren Beattie — Mr Gaetz left his chat running while he was offline.

This is common for Twitch streamers — many will allow their chats to stay active when they’re not streaming, and some continue to participate with their communities offline. However, Mr Gaetz’s viewers took the opportunity to slam him and leave vulgar ASCII images in the chat, including many depicting male genitals.

Gaetz bombing on Twitch is the least of his worries though; the FBI’s underage sex trafficking investigation is infinitely more problematic. Gaetz’s friend is now a convicted sex trafficker, and Gaetz recently voted against reauthorizing a human trafficking bill. (Gaetz has not been charged with a crime and has denied any wrongdoing.)

We’re not a political website, but a jerk is a jerk; Matt Gaetz is a creep and a giant jerk. Seeing him flame out on Twitch is glorious.
