MechAssault Review

Developer: Day 1 Publisher: Microsoft
Release Date: November 12, 2002 Also On: None

Another of the hand-me-downs from PC, Mechassault, a decendent of the Mech Warrior series. This game however is no joke. Like Unreal, it was a perfect fit for the Xbox and the Xbox Live.

Mechassault sports some great looking greaphics just as the Mech Warrior game did in the past. There are a lot of mechs running around in this chaotic scene. They all have great detail. Your mech espacially. It has extreme detail and the fireworks you weapons make as they are launched out are superb. The environments, the action, the enimeies, everything is so well done.

There is no real music to Mechassault other then the rumbling of machine guns and exploding of missles and cracking of energy guns at your disposal. Thats all you need in a game like this. The only annoying thing is the voice acting of the people on your radio telling you what the hell to do. Take that out and there isn’t anything that beats the sound quality of Mechassault.

Mechassault has very easy to learn controls for a third person shooter. It has awsome special effects and has great combat. The AI moves around trying to avoid your fire unlike other games where they stand still and take a beating. This makes the game all the more tougher for you to beat. This makes the game longer and more challenging for you to beat and make it seem like you spent your 50 bucks well…….The Xbox Live keeps it up there anyway with online play and Mech dowloads along with new levels keeping it fresh and new.

This game is almost like a sequal to the other Mech Warrior games out there but adds its own flavor to the world of mech combat. The game has a story unlike any other Mech Warrior game before it has. The game is deep and theres a lot to do with Xbox Live play involved.

This game has 12 exclussive levels already in the game as well as levels to download via XBL. There are many Mechs and Maps to unlock as well as to download. There is great multiplayer modes and XBL modes for all to play. This game will continue forever in gameplay as well as value from all the downloads possible via Xboxs online program.
