Medal of Honor returns with Above and Beyond, an Oculus Rift VR exclusive

The first Medal of Honor game since 2012’s Warfighter was revealed this week, but you won’t be able to play it on PS4 or Xbox One. Nope, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is an Oculus Rift exclusive.

EA says that the VR-only Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond will help the company “deliver its most authentic and immersive World War II experience from the series to date.”

Built from the ground up for Oculus Rift, EA says that the game is in good hands. The development team at Respawn Entertainment is reportedly comprised of veteran developers of the series.

The game will put players in the role of an agent in the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). Players “will go behind enemy lines to sabotage Nazi facilities, subvert enemy plans, and aid the French Resistance.”

EA says that players will also “experience a rich, exciting single-player campaign that takes them through historic events on land, air, and sea, all in virtual reality.”

Fans of the series will also be happy to hear that Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond will include multiplayer modes when it is released in summer 2020.

“The game will lean into the franchise’s history of education through entertainment, bringing the stories of WWII veterans to life for players in emotionally powerful ways,” EA says.
