GOG has added a bunch of classic Konami games to its DRM-free online storefront, including Metal Gear Solid.

Among the titles are a handful of Metal Gear titles, including the original MSX release, not the NES version. There is also a bundle that includes the original Castlevania and Contra games.

Here are the titles now available on GOG:

Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania & Contra includes five games. You get Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Contra, and Super C. It retails for $5.99.

Classic Metal Gear games on GOG

Notably absent from the list of classic Metal Gear games on GOG is Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. That game was originally released in 1990 as an overhead action-adventure stealth game for the MSX2.

Also, if you’re wondering, the MGS version on GOG appears to be a port of the PC version from the early 2000s, not the PS1 version. VR missions are included. The game also supports “multiple” game controllers, according to GOG.

My Take

This is probably the best way to play the classic Metal Gear games outside of Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection on PS3. So if you’re a fan of the franchise, you may want to check these games out!
