The third game in the popular Metro franchise, Metro Exodus, is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2021.
“We’re currently hard at work on bringing Metro Exodus to Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 next year,” 4A Games says. “While we can’t share all the details just yet, you should expect major enhancements including faster frame rate, increased resolution, reduced loading times, and stunning Ray Tracing features made possible by the new hardware.”
“The new consoles are amazing and will allow us to deliver visual enhancements and performance only possible on state-of-the-art PC hardware and RTX enabled cards – until now,” they add.
The company confirms that Metro Exodus will have a next-gen upgrade for existing owners on PS4 and Xbox One. If you own the game digitally or physically, you will get the enhanced next-gen version for free via Smart Delivery and the PS5 equivalent.
Metro Exodus recently came to Amazon Luna. 4A Games confirms that they are still working on dedicated versions for Linux and Mac. They expect to release more information about those platforms closer to launch.
As for the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions, they do not yet have a specific release date. In the meantime, if you buy the game on current-gen consoles, you can rest assured that you’ll get a free next-gen upgrade.
