A common complaint of next-generation hardware is that it puts too much pressure on one’s wallet. Microsoft hopes that an announced “Platinum Hits” program for Xbox 360 will help, even if just a little. The first batch of games is small, only four, including Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo: Elements of Power, Need for Speed Most Wanted, and Project Gotham Racing 3. They will go on sale for $30 on October 15, a month before the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii launch. Don’t expect other games to join the first four anytime soon though; Microsoft does not plan to announce any more Platinum Hits until spring 2007.
