This year has been blazing by and E3 is coming up in just a few short months. Along with the E3 hype has come many-a-rumor about next gen consoles that may or may not be shown at the expo this year. Well, I’m happy to tell you that they’re all wrong. Microsoft released an offical statement to Kotaku saying,

“While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon. For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360 – and it’s the best year ever for Xbox 360.”

Yes, that’s right. No plans to show off any new Xbox console anytime soon. Now obviously they wouldn’t have much r eason to lie about it, at this stage if they were going to show something, they’d want to be setting up the hype, not tearing it down.

Also, if Microsoft won’t be showing or talking about any next gen consoles this E3, then I think it’s a safe be that Sony’s next console project will also be absent. With both consoles reportedly having plenty of juice left, perhaps it’s for the better that new consoles remain a distant dream.
