Microsoft Expected to Miss Xbox 360 Sales Target

For all of the complaints that Sony has received for PS3s expected mass shortages, it appears that Microsoft isn’t living up to its targets either. GamePro.com is reporting that for the year, Microsoft will have only shipped 4.5 million Xbox 360 units:

“Microsoft will ship just 4.5 million Xbox 360 consoles in 2006, 500,000 units shy of the company’s 5 million projection. Microsoft had originally set its Xbox 360 sales projections at 5.5 to 6 million units by April of 2006. When the console suffered mass shortages, Microsoft extended its internal deadline: in January, they promises they’d ship 5.5 million Xbox 360s by July.”
