Microsoft says Xbox PC app has improved performance, simpler mod support

Do you use the Xbox App on a Windows 10 PC? You’ll be interested in hearing that Microsoft has made a number of different improvements.
First up, the company says that they have rebuilt the app to improve performance. According to Microsoft, the app now uses roughly a third of the memory. They add that “the app’s design will stay the same, and it will be even easier to download and play your games.”
As for mods, they’ve made it easier to enable mods using the app. However, this new feature will only be available if developers choose to enable it. Here are some more details on how it works:
This bring-your-own-mod environment allows you to look at mods from different mod distribution sites, download the files that are of interest to you, and enable them on the Xbox (Beta) app.
For those of you interested in modding games in Xbox Game Pass for PC (Beta), here are some games that will support mods as of today:
- DiRT Rally 2.0
- Farming Simulator 17
- FTL: Faster Than Light
- Into the Breach
- MudRunner
Before you jump into any of your gams, one quick note. Microsoft suggests that you read through the FAQ before you enable mods.
