Minecraft Earth early access begins in October

The annual Minecon gathering was held this weekend in Nashville to celebrate all things Minecraft.

During the event, Microsoft and Mojang revealed that the upcoming mobile-only Minecraft Earth will launch in early access starting next month in select countries. The game is currently in closed beta. It will be released globally before the end of the year.

If you’re a Minecraft fan, chances are you already know about Minecraft Earth. But if you haven’t heard about the augmented reality game, it lets you play the game on your mobile device in real-world environments. Like Pokémon Go, you’ll have to actually step outside to collect, build, and fight.

That’s not all they announced, though. Mojang also detailed a new feature in the game called Adventures. These pre-made areas will pop up and provide players – and their friends – an opportunity to fight enemies together, find rare materials, and solve puzzles.

Google Play already has a page up where fans can start pre-registering their Android devices ahead of next month’s early access launch. We don’t yet know which countries will be included in the early access or when iOS will be included.

Stay tuned, and we’ll let you know once we find out more. In the meantime, check out the latest trailer below!
