MLB The Show 22

MLB The Show 22 has its cover athlete after a reveal in the Big Apple.

PlayStation Studios decided to announce the cover athlete of MLB The Show 22 today from Time Square. With this game, Sony hopes to strike back and declare that the king of sports games has returned.

As part of a delivery that aims to cement the series’ position as the best baseball game on the market, Sony San Diego Studio was tasked with selecting an athlete that could convey the same sensation. As a result, Shohei Ohtani was unveiled as the cover athlete for MLB The Show 22 today, both during the Time Square unveiling and on Twitter.

Ohtani is a fantastic Japanese pitcher and hitter who, following a spell in his own country’s national league, has earned a name for himself among the Los Angeles Angels and MLB greats in general. As an athlete who excels in both categories, he is the ideal representation of MLB The Show 22.

A historic release in the series

For various reasons, this launch will be historic. A pitcher will be featured for the first time on the MLB The Show cover. Additionally, MLB The Show will be accessible on the Nintendo Switch for the first time. That’s in addition to last year’s new platforms, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. So it’s truly a multi-platform franchise now.

On April 5, MLB The Show 22 launches on Xbox One, Xbox X Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. We’ll let you know when pre-orders open. So stay tuned.
