Ms. Marvel will be a key superhero in Marvel’s Avengers

Fans who thought that Kamala Khan (aka Ms. Marvel) was the narrator for the Marvel’s Avengers E3 trailer were right.

The fan-favorite Kamala Khan is indeed featured in Marvel’s Avengers, Square Enix confirmed at New York Comic Con. In fact, she will be one of the game’s playable superheroes.

G. Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona, Sana Amanat, and Stephen Wacker co-created the character in the comics. Actress Sandra Saad is lending her voice to the video game character. Saad isn’t new to gaming. She also contributed to Fallout 76 and Rage 2.

In the game’s story, Kamala Khan is a self-avowed Avengers fan who must apply her intellect, optimism, and unique abilities to the task of unraveling a global conspiracy. The character first appeared in Captain Marvel #14, quickly capturing the imagination of fans.

Players first encounter Khan during A-Day. Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco, but the celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in mass destruction.

Khan is exposed to a mysterious substance and finds herself developing extraordinary powers, which she hides for years. The Avengers are blamed for the tragedy and disband. Five years later, all superheroes are outlawed and the world finds itself in peril. Khan embarks on a quest to reassemble the heroes and assume a place in their ranks.

“An optimistic fangirl of the Avengers, Kamala Khan is the perfect character for the story we’re telling in Marvel’s Avengers,” says Shaun Escayg, Creative Director and Writer at Crystal Dynamics.

At New York Comic Con, Square Enix released a behind-the-scenes video with interviews of key players working on the game, including Ms. Marvel’s voice actor Sandra Saad. Watch it below!

Crystal Dynamics is developing the game. They are perhaps best known for their work on the Tomb Raider series.

Marvel’s Avengers will release simultaneously on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia on May 15, 2020. Right now you’ll save $10 when you pre-order the game on PS4 or Xbox One at Amazon or Walmart.
