Popular video game forum has banned Too Human creator and founder of Silicon Knights Denis Dyack after Mr. Dyack publicly criticized the site for its perceived negativity. “NeoGAF is considered to be the worst, and I would say is probably the worst forum,” he told VG247 in an interview. “And so, you might as well pick the worst one. Why not?”

It turns out that Mr. Dyack has made a habit of picking on “the worst” message board, as he calls it. 1UP picked up on the feud between Dyack and the NeoGAF community in July when he made a post challenging its users to “stand up and be counted” as “For” or “Against” Too Human.

“When the game is released and everyone plays game all the speculation will be over. If I am wrong and gamers in general think the game is ‘crap’ then I am comfortable with getting tagged ‘Owned by the GAF’. However, if I am right and it is received well, I would like to see those ‘Against’ to be tagged with ‘Owned by Too Human,'” Dyack said in his post.

In his interview with VG247, he conceded that his antics were nothing more than a publicity stunt. “A lot of people would say, ‘Don’t post on a forum. Forums don’t have any affect.’ That post on the forum got picked up by almost every single major press site, and it did influence the press,” Dyack said. “I knew a demo was coming up and I knew all this was going to happen, and what I wanted to do was make an example of [the fact that] people need to understand the affect forums are having because there is an effect, it’s not a null effect.”

NeoGAF was not having any of that. In response to Dyack’s escapades, the forum banned his account. “What is an appropriate action to take in response to the man who continues to post here? I won’t be tolerating a second retconned ‘social experiment,’ a second call for NeoGAF’s closing, or a second ‘worst forum’ insult. You decided to ignore the option for real terms for your pointless tag bet, so with the majority of reviews condemning your magnum opus to mediocrity I’ll claim a suitable prize by telling you to get the hell off NeoGAF.”

Whether or not the actions were called for, on either Dyack’s or NeoGAF’s part, one might question why a person of Dyack’s standing would lower himself to a petty tit-for-tat with a forum community made up of hardcore gamers. Not only does it pit him against potential customers at the launch of his product, it makes him look bitter that Too Human has been poorly received by reviewers. So far the Xbox 360 exclusive is averaging a 6.9 out of 10 on Game Rankings.
