New PS3 Details Revealed
At today’s Game Developers Conference, Phil Harrison of Sony revealed that the PlayStation 3 would see an “early November” launch in 2006, tweaking the vaguer former announcement of “November” 2006. You may remember that Nintendo intends to release the Revolution before Thanksgiving, possibly pitting the two consoles against each other in November. Last year’s Xbox 360 launch was also in November.
While that wasn’t a bombshell, he did signal that the PlayStation 3 would be playable at this year’s E3. The first title announced playable at E3 is the remake of Warhawk. Furthermore, Sony announced that the mega-popular (at least here at Game Freaks 365) platforming series Ratchet and Clank would be released on the PS3. Insomniac Games (behind Ratchet and Clank) also announced that their forthcoming PS3 shooter, I-8, has been renamed Resistance: The Fall of Man and will be out by the end of this year. Finally, the PlayStation 3 will be region-free, which is great news for all of you importers.
