Tokyo in anime and cyberpunk style

Yan Ru, a 3D artist from China who works with Unreal Engine 5, has created a demo called Tokyo Project UE5. It’s a recreation of the Japanese capital with an anime and cyberpunk style. In this, we can walk freely through the streets and admire the level of detail and realism that has been achieved.

Tokyo Project UE5 has a duration of about 15 minutes and allows us to interact with some elements of the scenario, such as posters, vending machines, or vehicles. The demo is inspired by the anime Akira, a masterpiece of animation that showed us a dystopian and violent Tokyo.

Yan Ru has wanted to pay tribute to this movie and has included some winks and references to it in its demo. For example, we can see Kaneda’s iconic red motorcycle or the Harukiya bar sign. There are also other easter eggs related to other popular anime and video games. However, it is not the only anime that is referenced in this demo made with Unreal Engine 5.

The demo is available for free download. However, in order to run it we need to have a powerful computer! This demo demands a lot of graphics and processing performance. According to Yan Ru, these are the minimum requirements: Windows 10, Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor, Nvidia RTX 2070 Super or AMD RX 5700 XT graphics card, and 16 GB of RAM. If you like video games and anime, don’t miss this opportunity to explore an amazing Tokyo in Unreal Engine 5.
