Nintendo 3DS Price and Release Date Revealed

Nintendo held a press event in New York City on Wednesday to announce the price and launch date for their upcoming 3DS handheld. The United States will see the system on March 27 for a retail price of $250, the same price that the Wii launched for in 2006, but $50 more expensive than the original Nintendo DS. The system will launch in Europe on March 25.

As far as the hardware package goes, Nintendo confirmed the materials that will come with the system. Aside from the Nintendo 3DS system, there will also be a charging cradle, AC adapter, stylus, and 2GB SD Memory Card. Pre-loaded on the handheld will be various software such as the Nintendo 3DS Camera, Nintendo 3DS Sound, Mii Maker, StreetPass, Mii Plaza, AR Games, Activity Log, Face Raiders, and more. Users will be able to download additional software through system updates and purchases (i.e. digital game downloads).

As far as games go, the company is promising over 30 games in the “launch window”, which runs from March 27 until June. First-party games will include Pilotwings Resort, Nintendogs + cats, and Steel Diver.
