Nintendo 3DS Tops 1 Million in Japan

Thirteen weeks in and the Nintendo 3DS has finally sold its one millionth unit in Japan. By comparison, the original Nintendo DS sold its first million in only four weeks. The Nintendo DS Lite and DSi both took eight weeks. The relatively weak showing in Japan has contributed to Nintendo missing its target of 4 million units sold by the end of March. As of Nintendo’s last update in April, the 3DS had sold 3.61 million units worldwide. That could easily change soon with the impending launch of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
