Nintendo is no longer repairing Wii consoles

Nintendo Wii

While games like Just Dance 2020 are still getting released for the Wii, Nintendo has officially ended support for the console.

The Wii first launched back in 2006. It’s still Nintendo’s most successful home console ever released. But as with many older consoles, the expenses involved with maintaining repair services do not always make sense.

“Nintendo no longer offers repairs for Wii systems. However, many issues can be resolved by following the troubleshooting steps on our support site,” the company says on their support website.

The company suggests visiting their troubleshooting section for Wii and searching for the issue that you’re experiencing. If that doesn’t work, you may have to replace the system. You can find Wii consoles for under $50 on eBay. They’re also available at GameStop.

Just last year, Nintendo announced that it was closing the Wii Shop Channel after 12 years in business. At the time, I argued that its closure showed why we still need physical games.
