Nintendo Moving to Bay Area, Big Apple

In a recent interview with The Mercury News, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime announced that the company is moving its sales and marketing team from Washington state to New York and the San Francisco area. “It’s much easier to do this right now when we certainly have the wind at our back,” Reggie said. Rumors of the Redmond relocation had been on the Internet for a while, with possible news leaking from the company that George Harrison and others in Nintendo’s corporate office may leave.

Part of the appeal for Reggie with the move is being closer to some of the major players in the industry. Electronic Arts, who is increasing its support of Nintendo DS and Wii over past Nintendo systems, is located in Redwood City, a possible spot for the yet-to-be-decided office location. “It’s essential to spend physical time with people from other companies, to be involved with them as neighbors and do business with them face to face,” Reggie noted.
