Nintendo has posted a loss of $925 million for the first half of the year ending September 30, 2011. While the number is bad, it is significantly better than an estimate reported by Reuters that put the loss at $1.32 billion. The company’s stock has taken a beating this week, but recovered slightly in early trading Friday in Japan.

Nintendo has struggled to resuscitate their struggling Nintendo 3DS platform after an August price cut that brought it down to $170 from a March launch price of $250. As the Wii winds down its life cycle in expectation of a Wii U launch in 2012, the company’s revenue possibilities have dwindled.
