Nintendo Posts Strong Black Friday Sales

In a much-needed boost to a company that has seen a series of sales setbacks, Nintendo posted strong sales on a record-breaking Black Friday where an anemic U.S. economy managed a record $52.4 billion in sales over the four day period. The recently realesed Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword sold 535,000 units following its November 20 launch.

The company’s new 3DS handheld also saw a sales spike thanks to the release of Super Mario 3D Land, a price cut and the soon-to-be-released Mario Kart 7. Super Mario 3D Land, which Game Freaks 365 gave a 9.5 out of 10, also saw sales of more than 500,000 since November 13. The Wii managed to bounce back from its downward spiral with a half million in sales on Thursday and Friday alone, a best for the five year old system.
