The Nintendo Switch continues to exceed expectations. The system, along with the recently-released Switch Lite, sold 830,000 units in the United States alone.
According to Nintendo, those numbers represent sales from November 24 until November 30. In other words, it doesn’t capture any sales figures from the Sunday after Thanksgiving or Cyber Monday.
The sales haul is particularly impressive because Nintendo didn’t offer much of a Black Friday special. As we reported last week, the Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle included an old model of the system.
One retailer did offer a deal of their own, but it wasn’t an official Nintendo Black Friday bundle. GameStop was offering a $25 gift coupon with the purchase of a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite through Cyber Monday. Amazon ended up matching that as well.
Nintendo Switch has sold over 40 million units so far, including 2 million Nintendo Switch Lite units just in the system’s first 10 days. The Thanksgiving sales help bring Nintendo Switch sales to 17.5 million in North America.
Hardware is not the only area where Nintendo is doing well. Software sales on the platform are also hot. Combined, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield have sold over 3 million units. Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros Ultimate have sold over 8 million units, while Super Mario Odyssey has sold 6.5 million units.
