November’s Xbox console update adds Auto HDR, Optimized for Series X|S tags

November Xbox console update Optimized for Series X|S tags

This month’s Xbox console update has a few new features, bug fixes, and performance improvements.

Microsoft is adding six new dynamic backgrounds on Xbox Series X and S. The options add motion and color to the home screen. They are based on previous Xbox console generations and popular profile themes. More dynamic backgrounds are expected in future updates.

The update also adds two new tags. The first is a new “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S” badge that lets you know what games receive next-gen enhancements. Here are some more details from Xbox Wire:

To make it easier to see which of your games have been optimized, we’ve added an ‘X|S’ badge to their tiles in My Games and Apps, in both the Games and Full Library views. You can also use the Filter button to see only ‘Optimized for Xbox Series X|S’ games.

Secondly, there’s a new tag that lets you know when a game uses the new Auto HDR feature, which enhances visual quality without any additional work from developers. You can check to see if a game supports it when you open the guide during a game. The ‘Auto HDR’ tag lets you know that the feature is active.
