The Nintendo DS has reached another milestone, setting a gaming record by having 1 million unique users access the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service to play one of the three available games online – Animal Crossing: Wild World, Mario Kart DS, and Tony Hawk’s American Sk8land. The 1 millionth user was a player in Japan, who logged on to play Animal Crossing: Wild World.
“Players are embracing our model of a compelling, safe, easy-to-use wireless gaming service,” says Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “Those 1 million users represent more than 27 million game sessions.” Coming March 20 are Metroid Prime Hunters and Tetris DS, which will become the next games to take advantage of the service.
