Peter Moore Leaves Microsoft

News broke today of the departure of Microsoft’s Xbox leader Peter Moore. According to Major Nelson, “Peter is returning to the Bay Area to be with his family, and he’ll join EA as President of their sports division. Don Mattrick will be coming on board to lead the team.” Just a week ago Moore was delivering Microsoft’s E3 press conference.

Although Moore had no direct involvement, one has to wonder if the resignation is connected at all with the recent warranty flap that cost Microsoft over a billion dollars. With the company unable to both meet its sales targets and turn a profit, Microsoft may be looking for a fall guy before the upcoming financial analyst meeting on July 26. At any rate, we have not seen the last of Peter Moore. We look forward to seeing him tout EA’s offerings on PS3, Wii and yes, Xbox 360.
