Pinball, Rival Turf, Congo's Caper confirmed for Nintendo Switch Online in June

Next month’s free NES and SNES games for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers were just announced.

Rival Turf and Congo’s Caper are being added as part of the SNES lineup. Meanwhile, Pinball is being added to the NES lineup in June 2022. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards was added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Rival Turf is a beat ’em up game from Jaleco. The game has six stages that you can play solo or with a friend. It was released on SNES in 1992 as the first game in a trilogy. Nintendo later brought it to Wii’s Virtual Console.

Congo’s Caper is a 2D side-scrolling platformer from Data East, a company that was best known for arcade games in the 1980s. Originally released in 1993, this classic SNES title is considered an underrated gem. So although it may not excite subscribers, it is worth checking out.

The last game as part of this month’s lineup is the Nintendo Entertainment System classic Pinball. This retro game was first released as an NES launch title in North America. The game features a bonus stage starring Mario in a Breakout-like mode.

If you’re a Nintendophile, you’ll recall that Pinball for NES was an unlockable Easter egg in Animal Crossing on the GameCube (in Japan it was known as Dōbutsu no Mori for Nintendo 64). The game was re-released for the Game Boy Advance e-Reader in 2002 and the Wii Virtual Console in 2006.

Nintendo Switch Online costs $20 per year. The inclusion of the Expansion Pack (which includes Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games each month) brings the total to $50.
