Platinum Games Developing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game

Did you spend hours and countless quarters playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game back in the early 90s? I know I did. The franchise has had a number of entries over the years but few of them have captured the magic of those classic arcade titles. In fact, some of the more recent games have been downright horrible.

Japanese developer Platinum Games could soon change the misfortune for the Ninja Turtles franchise with a new entry tentatively titled Mutants in Manhattan. Platinum Games is the studio behind Bayonetta, Mad World and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance so they have a pretty good experience making arcade-y beat em up action games.

The game was revealed in an Australian Classification Board ratings page. Mutants in Manhattan hasn’t even been officially announced and there are scant details available at this time, let alone gameplay footage, but the rating from the official government rating board in Australia, along with a similar rating from Brazil’s Ministry of Justice indicate that it is all but a sure thing.

The Brazilian ratings page indicated that Activision is publishing the game for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. We’ll have more information once the game is officially unveiled. In the meantime, at least there is some hope that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise can finally get back on track.
