Pokémon NFTs? It may happen

Pokémon games have a format that would be very attractive for blockchain technology and the metaverse. Proof of this has been the publication they have made on their website about a new job position. The Japanese company is looking for a Corporate Development Principal with “deep knowledge” of Web3 and NFT technology, including the metaverse. This move comes subject to the creation of a whitepaper for the presentation of a new project related to blockchain technology.

The job purpose of this person will be, for the most part, to advise the President of The Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara, and the executive leadership team on the long-term strategic direction of the company. However, he or she is also expected to analyze the market for the company’s future projects. That is both from the standpoint of the industry as we know it, as well as from the standpoint of blockchain technology.

However, it should be noted that this move does not mean that the company will launch or announce a game this year. However, the company is signaling publicly that they have studied the possibility of entering this new technology. This is intriguing news from The Pokémon Company. Will other companies join this train? We will have to see what 2023 has in store for the video game industry.
