Riders Republic Preview: Ubisoft’s spin on extreme sports games like SSX

Riders Republic

Ubisoft announced a new IP at their Ubisoft Forward event called Riders Republic. It’s a massive multiplayer outdoor sports playground. Here’s everything we know so far.

Fans of the extreme downhill biking game Descenders and the snowboarding series SSX should feel right at home here. Riders Republic lets you experience an open world of extreme sports with a range of different options at your disposal.

You’ll compete with other players, land tricks, and connect in a social hub. The sports that have been confirmed so far include:

  • Biking
  • Skiing
  • Snowboarding
  • Wing suiting
  • Rocket wing suiting

Some of the events feature more than 50 players competing against each other in frantic races. Ubisoft says that “players will need to watch their blind spots and protect their position as they collide, grind and fight” their way to the finish line. You can also play solo if that’s more your thing.

National Parks take the spotlight

Riders Republic allows players to ride through some of the most magnificent places in North America. You’ll descend snowy mountains and traverse arid canyons as you explore American National Parks.

According to Ubisoft, no fewer than seven National Parks have been faithfully recreated and mashed together to create a lively sports park. They include:

  • Bryce Canyon
  • Canyonlands
  • Grand Teton
  • Mammoth Mountain
  • Sequoia Park
  • Yosemite
  • Zion

Launch date

Riders Republic releases worldwide on February 25, 2021, It is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Google Stadia. It will also be on PC via Epic Games Store and Uplay.
