Project: Mara is Ninja Theory’s “experimental” psychological horror game

Ninja Theory – the makers of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – just announced their latest game today. It’s a psychological horror game called Project: Mara.
In a newly released video, Ninja Theory co-founder Tameem Antoniades discusses the project. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II – which was just announced at The Game Awards 2019 – is also discussed.
“While Hellblade gave us a very personal insight into psychosis, this sequel builds on that to show how madness and suffering shapes myths, gods, and religion,” Antoniades says in the video, which you can watch below. “Our goal is to make an experience comparable to the epic myths and sagas of old.”
Here’s a description of the game from Ninja Theory:
Project: Mara will be a real-world and grounded representation of mental terror. Based on real lived experience accounts and in-depth research, our aim is to recreate the horrors of the mind as accurately and realistically as possible. Project: Mara will be an experimental title and a showcase of what could become a new storytelling medium.
A release date and specific platforms have not yet been announced. However, it’s probably safe to bet that it will land on Xbox Series X and maybe PC. A PS5 release seems unlikely since Ninja Theory is now under the umbrella of Xbox Game Studios.
We’ll bring you more details when we get them! In the meantime, check out the video:
