PS2 Price Cut Imminent

CNNMoney.com’s Chris Morris is making the news again by saying that PlayStation 2 price cuts could be expected before E3. Colin Sebastian, senior research analyst for Lazard Capital Markets, said, “In our opinion, hardware price cuts are necessary not only to drive demand at the end of a console cycle, but also to bring the current-generation consoles within reach of more value-oriented customers.” The price drop would likely result in $129 PS2’s, down from $149. A reaction from Microsoft could bring the price of an Xbox down to compete, but that seems unlikely as production has been rumored to have stopped and it is no secret that Microsoft has moved its full attention to the Xbox 360.
