PS3 Outsells Wii 4 to 1 in Japan, Beats DS for September

While gamers in America eagerly await the NPD numbers for September 2009, Japanese sales are already out and they prove positive for Sony. Thanks to the PS3 Slim, the PS3 outsold Nintendo’s Wii nearly 4 to 1 and the Xbox 360 nearly 10 to 1, according to numbers from Media Create. The DSi was the only system to outperform PS3 during the week ending September 27.

Yet more impressive than that are numbers from Bloomberg that show PS3 as the top selling system for the entire month of September. This would be the first time in the history of the platform that the PS3 was the top selling system for any given month. Bloomberg puts PS3 sales at 309,939, while the second place Nintendo DS and DSi combined sales are at 297,060 units.
