PS5 rolls out Variable Refresh Rate support

Variable Refresh Rate support gets added to PS5 this week.

Sony announced last month that Variable Refresh Rate support is coming to the PS5. Yesterday, they confirmed that the new feature is set to debut this week. The feature is supported on HDMI 2.1-compatible televisions. It enhances visual performance, minimizing or eliminating screen tearing and screen pacing issues.

Sony also said that a number of games will support VRR in the “coming week.” They add that “previously released PS5 games can be fully optimized for VRR through a game patch and future games may include VRR support at launch.”
