Partnering with Taito, leading VR studio Survios has transformed the beloved, nostalgic world of Puzzle Bobble into VR.
Cheerful design, timeless gameplay, and adorable characters – even without mentioning the game’s title, many fans of the video game industry will know that we are referring to Puzzle Bobble. (And for a quick history lesson: Puzzle Bobble is derived from the ’80s-era arcade series Bubble Bobble.)
The original developer and publisher of Puzzle Bobble, Taito, is partnering with Survios to deliver for fans the next evolution of the classic Japanese action-puzzle game. Only this time you’ll experience the immersive fun in virtual reality.
So what’s new?
Puzzle Bobble VR: Vacation Odyssey delivers a first-person player perspective with a hundred three-dimensional levels of bubble-bursting action. Aim, match, and burst bubbles to advance through the island environments and master each level. Coins are earned and exchanged to activate power-ups. Plus, clever VR interactions give players new tools and techniques in bubble solving.
Furthermore, Puzzle Bobble VR: Vacation Odyssey will have the timeless soundtrack from Zuntata. All the recognizable classic soundtracks and new, never-before-heard songs composed just for this version are featured in this VR game.
For a sneak peek at the soundtrack, keep scrolling for the trailer that was just released!
Puzzle Bobble VR: Vacation Odyssey features multiple game modes for varied gameplay. Each player can choose the game mode where he/she feels most comfortable playing. The modes include:
- Story Mode: Provides players with 100 progressively challenging levels to clear with three-star rankings.
- Infinite Mode: Shoot and match to a high score as a never-ending wave of bubbles surge on screen.
- Online Duel Mode: Challenge the skills of online opponents and send jammer bubbles to a rival’s board in this fast-paced 1v1 duel mode.
Players can download and play this new experience from the classic Japanese game sooner than you might expect. Puzzle Bobble VR: Vacation Odyssey will be available on Oculus Quest and Quest 2 on May 20, 2021.
