If you’re a fan of shmups, Tozai Games has just released a pair of classics on iOS devices. R-Type Dimensions EX includes two classics: R-Type and R-Type II.
The mobile version of Dimensions EX includes almost everything from the PC and console builds of the game. For instance, you can choose between 2D graphics and classic music or modern 3D graphics and reworked music with the press of a button.
Another feature that wasn’t present in the original ’80s versions of these games is the slow-motion button. You’ll be able to bob and weave through enemy projectiles using slow-motion if the action gets too hot. If you want an extra challenge, you can speed things up with the fast-forward button.
The game also features online leaderboards and achievements. The one feature that you won’t get, though, is a co-op mode.
R-Type Dimensions EX is available on the App Store for $4.99. It was previously released on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
