Ravens QB Lamar Jackson will be on the cover of Madden NFL 21

We just learned the cover athlete for Madden NFL 21. However, it turns out that the reveal was accidental.

Lamar Jackson is the cover athlete for this year’s edition of the long-running football franchise. Jackson is a quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. He was named the MVP for the 2019-20 season in February.

“It’s always been a dream of mine since I was a kid, since I first started playing Madden,” Jackson said in a video posted on Twitter. “It’s dope. For me to be on the cover. It’s a dream come true.”

But the announcement was apparently not planned for today. Oops! EA’s Madden Twitter account responded with its own tweet:

And as far as the supposed Madden cover athlete curse, Jackson says he’s not worried.

“Patrick Mahomes is on the front and he won [Super Bowl] MVP,” Jackson is quoted on ESPN.com. “I want that curse. I hope that’s a curse.”
