Renegade Kid’s Jools Watsham has revealed that the Nintendo DS cult hit Dementium: The Ward will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS eShop in “Q2 2015.”
Dementium wouldn’t be the first handheld shooter that Renegade Kid put on the 3DS eShop; it brought the NDS game Moon to the digital service in 2013, with the intention to release additional “episodes.”
Like Moon for 3DS, Dementium will see enhanced visuals, 60 frames per second and 3D support. Apparently certain aspects of the game will be cleaned up, like the enemy re-spawns and placement of checkpoints. Watsham acknowledged that some fans enjoyed this difficult factor of the original game, and hinted at a “hardcore mode” that keeps the original game intact.
If the reception of the Dementium re-make goes well, Watsham said the sequel could see the same re-make treatment. He even mentioned the possibility of a third installment, though it probably wouldn’t happen anytime soon.
