Resident Evil 3 Remake launches today

Resident Evil 3 Remake

The highly-anticipated Resident Evil 3 Remake is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

First announced last December, the game is a remake of the PS1 survival-horror classic from 1999. It comes on the heels of the successful launch of the Resident Evil 2 remake back in early 2019. And, in fact, the same RE Engine used to power that game and Resident Evil 7 is used here.

Resident Evil 3 stars fan-favorite series heroine Jill Valentine, who is attempting to escape from a crumbling, zombie-infested Raccoon City. To make matters even worse, a seemingly unstoppable bioweapon known as Nemesis is blocking her path.

A few weeks ago, fans got an early taste of the game with a new demo. Capcom also ran a Resident Evil Resistance multiplayer beta. The asymmetrical 4 vs. 1 multiplayer experience is included with RE3.

While our review isn’t ready yet, our early impressions with the game were positive. Here’s a brief description of the experience from Andrew’s hands-on preview:

When Nemesis makes his appearance, everything escalates. Despite having a competent grasp of the controls, I found myself physically sweating as I struggled to evade him. As he bounds towards Jill, my quick-dodge poise dissolved and my sense of direction crumbled as I scrambled for a safe room.
