Resident Evil 5 and Wii Top March 2009 Sales Charts

The sales numbers are in for March 2009 and it was another major month for game releases. Resident Evil 5 topped 1.5 million in combined sales of PS3 and Xbox 360, while Pokemon Platinum nearly became the latest Nintendo DS game to top 1 million in sales. Year-to-year software sales were down 17 percent from March 2008.

9. Mario Kart Wii – 278,000
10. Major League Baseball 2K9 (Xbox 360) – 205,000

On the hardware side the Wii surprised no one by topping the charts for another month. Nintendo DS followed with sales of over a half million units. The stalemate between Xbox 360 and PS3 continued that has separated the two systems by approximately 100,00 units.
