Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Trailer

Capcom announced several years ago that the Nintendo GameCube would be the exclusive home to Resident Evil 4 and the company re-released a back catalogue of all of the Resident Evil games on PlayStation, as well as a remake of the original in 2002. Now that Resident Evil 5 is confirmed to be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Capcom has decided to give Nintendo Wii owners a taste of the same past that they might have already played on their GameCube.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles takes Wii owners back to the mansion. The first trailer was just a teaser that hinted at the end of Umbrella. The second trailer is 24MB of actual gameplay, starting in the familiar mansion that everyone knows about well. The trailer gives some clues about the game. Most of what you remember appears to be left unchanged, except there will be a number of zombies ambushing you (for instance, in the dining hall just to the left of the main entrance).

It also shows how the pointer will work on the Wii and how you can swap between different guns. For those of you not aware, Umbrella Chronicles will play more as an arcade shooter than as your traditional Resident Evil game. It’s more Time Crisis or House of the Dead than it is Resident Evil 4. As for controls, a reticule will appear on-screen being controlled with the Wiimote and A will be used to counter-attack on command. You will fight some familiar bosses like the anaconda, the crimson heads make a return from the remake and that damn dog that jumps through the window.
