Resident Evil Village release date announced, demo out now on PS5

Resident Evil Village

Capcom has revealed key details about Resident Evil Village, including the release date and platforms.

Resident Evil Village is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on May 7, 2021. The news was revealed as part of the Resident Evil Showcase, which Capcom announced last week.

Capcom today confirmed that Village is eligible for a free upgrade from PlayStation 4 to the digital PlayStation 5 version. The game also supports Smart Delivery for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.

Multiplayer

“New details were also shared with the first extended gameplay footage showcase, along with the announcement of the multiplayer Resident Evil Re:Verse game to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary,” Capcom says.

PS5 Demo

Plus, starting today, pre-orders kick-off. PlayStation 5 owners can get a sneak peek of the mysterious and beautiful Castle Dimitrescu in Village with the stand-alone Maiden demo.

PlayStation Blog has more details on what to expect:

As Resident Evil Village Producer Peter Fabiano mentioned in the Resident Evil Showcase, you don’t play as Ethan Winters in this demo. Rather, you’ll be playing as a character known only as “the maiden.” Unable to fight or even block, you’ll be in control of this character as she attempts to escape from Dimitrescu Castle. This is a stand-alone separate experience from the main game that is a kind of short story set within the world of RE Village.

My Take

I was already looking forward to playing Village. This showcase makes me even more excited to try it out. I’m sure that Capcom will reveal many more details for the game in the weeks and months ahead. We’ll pass any new info that we get about the game along to you as soon as we hear about it. So stay tuned to Game Freaks 365!
